Exams,
The breath quickens,
The heart beats faster.
Exams,
The time of year when windows shut,
Fast against the noise and bustle of the real world.
Outside, the sun shines warmly,
Inside,
A scholar.
I sit,
Watching,
The words whirl crazily,
Before Drooping eyes.
I wonder,
Which,
If any of these words,
Will I remember?
Exams,
Fingers tighten nervously, circling luck-filled charms.
Exams,
I sit,
Staring blankly at a page filled with words,
Questions.
Which shall I answer?
I stare,
A wall,
A ceiling,
Blank,
Like my tired mind.
I hope for inspiration.
Seconds,
Minutes,
Time passes.
I watch a buzzing bee,
Attempting escape from this room,
Humming angrily at wasted time.
I drift,
Eyes closed,
Waiting.
Deep blue,
My mind's eye pictures the sky,
Empty,
Like bare pages beneath my elbows.
A balloon blown slowly,
Trailing a fine thread,
Tickling a sleepy consciousness.
I reach out,
Pulling the bulging vessel towards me,
Before piercing it with my pen.
Words spill freely,
Whiteness turning blue with running ink,
My pen soars,
Filling empty skies,
With meaning,
For tired eyes,
And weary body.
Questions answered,
I leave hopeful,
Yet doubting,
And sleep.
